Samsung S8, the standard for smartphones in 2017

Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Android handsets set the standard for smartphones in 2017. It may have not been the first phone with a nearly borderless screen, but the Galaxy S8’s exquisitely curved display certainly made it the among most attractive phones of the year. Not to mention its eye-popping OLED display, which for a long time was the best you could ask for on a phone. Samsung also made an effort to simplify the phone’s software, cutting a lot of the extraneous features that made its older phones feel clunky.

Sono stato un utente “stock” di Android per diversi anni, lo smartphone per il sottoscritto era il Nexus. Nient’altro. Poi l’infatuazione la scorsa estate, la prova e la conferma. Samsung ha fatto un lavoro eccellente e, ancora dopo diversi mesi, senza concreti rivali - certo: gli ultrà, i religiosi e i fan che non saranno d’accordo, ma proviamo ad essere oggettivi.

Ha i suoi limiti, su tutto la delicatezza estrema del display, i tempi pachidermici per gli aggiornamenti e la necessità di personalizzazione via launcher se si vuole ricreare un ambiente Google-like.

Compromessi che ne valgono la pena.
